Police in New Delhi said on Tuesday (Aug 20) that various shopping malls in India's national capital received bomb threats via mail. The police said that Chanakya Mall, Select CityWalk, Ambience Mall, DLF, Cine Polis, Pacific Mall, Primus Hospital, and Unity Group received the threatening mail.
"The explosive will go off in few hours," the mail read. Mall authoritiesinformed the Delhi Police as soon as the mail came to notice.
According to a report by the news agency ANI, the police initiated an investigation immediately after being informed. Bomb disposal squad and fire tenders arrived on the spot.
No bomb had been detected yet, ANI reported.
A senior police officer told ANI that the initial investigation suggested it seemedthat the same pattern has been followed to send threatening emails in which datelines have not been mentioned. The mail has been sent to many malls and other places. An investigation is currently underway.
This threat in shopping malls in New Delhi, came days after a similar threat was sent to shopping malls in Gurugram and Noida. In Gurugram, the police said that the threat was receivedat Ambience Mall but nothing suspicious was found during the search.
"The administration of Ambience Mall received an email which says that a bomb has been planted in the mall. When we received the information, all the teams including the bomb detection and disposal squad, dog squad, and SWAT team came to the spot," ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police)Vikas Kaushik told reporters.
