Lok Sabha polls 2019: PM Modi files nomination from Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has filed his nomination from Varanasi for Lok Sabha constituency on Friday.
Besides BJP chief Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, top NDA leaders such as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, SAD leader Prakash Singh Badal and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray were also present to mark the occasion.
Before filing for his nomination, Modi addressed the party workers. He alsovisited the iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
A day before filing his nomination, thePrime Minister held a grand roadshow in Varanasi along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister JP Nadda, UP and Delhi BJP chiefs, Mahendra Nath Pandey and Manoj Tiwari on Thursday.

Congress' Ajay Rai and SP leader Shalini Yadav are the other key candidates from Varanasi.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Modi won from Varanasi by a margin of 3.37 lakh votes.
Varanasi will go to polls on May 19 in the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
