Actress Lisa Kudrow may have made 'Friends' character Phoebe Buffay a household name, but the actress admits it was not easy to play the part.
In the upcoming episode of Hiking With Kevin, host Kevin Nealon had Lisa Kudrow as his guest. Kudrow got candid about her 'Friends' days and revealed that she had an extremely tough time playing Phoebe Buffay, irrespective of the fact that she has played "dumb girls" before.
Kudrow stated that she somehow tricked the makers during her audition and that she only got the part of Phoebe because she was the only one who could cope with the long audition process.
The 56-year-old actress further stated that in season 3, she was struggling to play the part but it was her co-star Matt LeBlanc, who played Joey in the series, who came to her rescue and gave her some great advice. Lisa revealed, "He went, 'Youâre her. Relax. You got it. Youâve been doing this fâing character for three years. Youâre working too hard. Thatâs your problem: You donât need to work as hard. Relax.' And he was right!"
The advice surely worked for Kudrow as not only did Phoebe Buffay become an iconic character but Kudrow also won an Emmy award in Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category for season 4.
The show is all set to turn 25 years on 22 September and producers Warner Bros. have planned several immersive activities around the show for fans in New York.
