Škoda Auto unveils all-electric Elroq compact SUV with over 500-km range

Škoda Auto is set to elevate its electric SUV lineup with the forthcoming debut of the Elroq, scheduled for autumn 2024. The Elroq has been classified under the A Main SUV segment and will become one of Škoda’s larger additions to its relatively small range of electric vehicles, drawn upon its Modern Solid design language in order to make a dramatic entrance into the class.

The Škoda Elroq has attractive design with certain specific features and due to its compact dimensions, it has sufficient internal space for passengers and their cargos suitable for both cities and their outskirts. The Elroq also provides enough space for the daily expected stowage having a luggage compartment volume of between 470/1,580 liters.

Power outputs range from 170 metric horsepower (125 kilowatts) to 300 metric horsepower (220 kilowatts), to fit the demands of motorists, with an impressive range up to 348 miles (560 kilometers) on a single charge under Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). The charging process is fast as the car supports the capability of DC fast charging that takes not more than 28 minutes to charge the car from 10% to 80%.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, emphasised the strategic importance of the Elroq, saying, "Introducing new segments of electric vehicles is crucial for the further development of the company’s strategy and Škoda Auto brand plans The Elroq is a remarkable step forward in our BEV range and represents our dedication to innovation and design."

The Škoda Elroq is the first in line of cars that represent the Modern Solid design concept from Škoda Auto with influences from the Tech-Deck Face that eliminates the traditional grille, which includes technological marvels like radar and front cameras. The sleek aesthetic of the SUV’s clear and bright LED headlights and the car’s herculean four-eye face look are other features of this car.

Inside, the Elroq maintains a practical yet environmentally friendly approach from Design Selections which has available options such as Recytitan fibre which is originated from recycled PET as upholstery. Some of the interior features include a 13-inch infotainment touch screen display, AR head-up display and digital cabin concept for improved convenience and a connected driving experience.

Safety is paramount in the Škoda Elroq, equipped with up to nine airbags and an array of standard and optional assistance systems. Features like Travel Assist and Intelligent Park Assist with Remote Parking underscore Škoda's commitment to innovation in safety and convenience.
