BMW Motorrad India launches CE 04: a new era of urban electro-mobility

BMW Motorrad India has unveiled its first electric offering, the BMW CE 04, starting at INR 14,90,000 marking India's debut of a premium electric scooter. This urban mobility solution, available as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU), can be booked in select metropolitan cities. Deliveries will commence from September 2024.

The BMW CE 04 represents a significant step forward in urban transportation, combining the lightness of a scooter with the advanced technology of a motorbike. The design of the CE 04 is a blend of functionality and digital reality, characterised by large, calm surfaces and sharp edges. Its long, stretched form envelops the slim energy storage unit in the underfloor assembly, complemented by a compact drivetrain. The floating seat design and practical side compartments for charging and helmet storage enhance its futuristic appeal. Available in Light White and the optional Avantgarde style in Imperial Blue Metallic, the CE 04's design includes striking elements like bright orange seats and tinted windshields.

Performance and Technology

Under the sleek exterior, the BMW CE 04 houses a liquid-cooled electric motor delivering a maximum output of 42 hp (31 kW). Positioned between the battery and the rear wheel, this setup ensures quick acceleration, with the scooter reaching 0 to 50 km/hr in just 2.6 seconds. The CE 04 can achieve a top speed of 120 km/hr, suitable for both city commutes and motorway sections.

Powered by a lithium-ion battery with a net capacity of 8.5 kWh, the CE 04 offers a range of 130 kms on a full charge and an energy consumption rate of 7.7 kWh/100 kms. The included 2.3 kW home charger can recharge the battery to 80% in 3 hours and 30 minutes, with an optional BMW Wallbox charger available for faster charging.

Advanced Safety and Comfort Features

Safety and comfort are paramount in the BMW CE 04. The suspension system, built around a one-piece tubular steel main frame, ensures stability and smooth handling. The braking system comprises a double disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear, supported by BMW Motorrad's Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Automatic Stability Control (ASC). Riders can choose from three riding modes: ECO, Rain, and Road, to suit various driving conditions.

Digital Integration

The BMW CE 04's cockpit features a 10.25-inch TFT colour split-screen display with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing seamless integration with smartphones. The waterproof and ventilated smartphone compartment includes a 12-volt port for charging on the go.

Customisation Options

BMW Motorrad offers extensive customisation options for the CE 04. The optional ‘Comfort Package’ includes heated grips and a backrest comfort seat, while the ‘Dynamic Package’ features Riding Modes Pro, Headlight Pro, ABS Pro, adaptive headlights, and daytime running lights. Additionally, a range of original BMW Motorrad accessories is available to personalise the scooter further.

All BMW Motorrad vehicles come with a standard three-year unlimited kilometre warranty, extendable to the fourth and fifth year.
