Ukraine war: ‘We must take care…,’ Zelensky sacks Air Force chief following fatal F-16 crash

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday (Aug 30) dismissed Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk, saying it was necessary to “take care of all our soldiers.”
The development comes after a top Ukrainian pilot was killed on Monday (Aug 26) after his F-16 fighter jet went down.Ukrainian military confirmed the news on August 29.
In his evening address, Zelensky said, “(I thank) everyone who is really fighting for Ukraine — for the result. And it is also necessary at the command level. We must strengthen ourselves. And we must take care of people. Take care of the personnel. Take care of all our soldiers."
Ukrainian president’s office didn’t provide any reason for Oleshchuk’s dismissal.
Kyiv Independent, a pro-Ukraine news outlet, reported that the jet crashed while defending against a massive Russian drone attack.Ukraine's defence ministry is said to have opened a probe into the accident.

Russia is pulling 100 paramilitary officers out of Burkina Faso to support its war efforts in Ukraine. These officers are part of a strong 300-personnel contingent from the Bear Brigade, a Russian private military company, that was deployed to the West African country in May to aid its military junta.
The Bear Brigade announced on its Telegram channel that its forces would return to Russia to help defend against Ukraine’s offensive in the Kursk region. Russian strike kills sixin Kharkiv
Meanwhile,Ukraine's northeastern city of Kharkiv was reportedlyhit by a Russian bomb attack Friday in whicha residential building and a playground were targeted, killing six people and injuring at least 55 more.
Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said that around 20 people were injured and were being treated in hospital.Ihor Terekhov, the city's mayor, said on Telegram one child was killed in the playground.
