Hamas releases video of the hostage held in Gaza
Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, on Saturday (May 11) released a video showing a man held hostage in Gaza. The man can beseen alive in the 11-second footage. The video is superimposed with text in Arabic and Hebrew that reads: "Time is running out. Your government is lying."
The man in the video is believed to beNadav Poplewell, a UK national, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nirim. Hamas said "he diedof wounds that he sustained in an Israeli air strike more than a month ago."
The 51-year-old hostage was kidnapped along with his motherChanna Peri, who was released in a hostage-sharing agreement in November last year.
Poplewell's brother was killed in the October 7 attacks. In the video,Nadav looks bruised in one of the eyes.
The video was posted on Hamas' telegram channel. It's the third time in less than a month that the group has releasedfootage of hostages.

Earlier, on April 27, the militant group released a video showing two hostages alive: Keith Siegel and Omri Miran.
Three days earlier it posted another video showing hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin alive.

It comes as pressure grows over the Israeli government of PM Benjamin Netanyahu to secure the release of hostages still held in Gaza.
"Every sign of life received from the hostages held by Hamas is another cry of distress to the Israeli government and its leaders," the families' group said in its statement on Saturday.
"We don't have a moment to spare! You must strive to implement a deal that will bring them all back today," it added.
Some 250 people were abducted to the Gaza Strip on October 7 when Hamas militants attacked southern Israel.
Israeli officials say 128 of them are still held captive in the Palestinian territory, including 36 who are dead.
Reacting to the video released Saturday,The Hostages and Missing Families Forum in Israelreleased a statement urging the Netanyahu government to strike a peace deal as soon as possible.
“Every sign of life received from the hostages held by Hamas is another cry of distress to the Israeli government and its leaders,” the families’ group said in its statement.
“We don’t have a moment to spare! You must strive to implement a deal that will bring them all back today.”
