More than 70% of Israelis think Netanyahu should step down: Poll

The majority of the Israeli public considers Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should resign, either immediately or at the end of the war, according to a recent poll conducted by Channel 12 news.
The poll states, 44% of respondents feel that Netanyahu should resign immediately, while an additional 28% think he should resign after the war.
This collective figure showed that 72% of the public supported his resignation either immediately or after the war ended.
In contrast, 22% of those questioned during the survey believe that Netanyahu should stay as the PM.
However, among Netanyahu's supporters, opinions are divided, with 50% agreeing he should resign right away or post-war, while 42% feel he should stay.

Along with these statistics on Netanyahu, the poll also stated the strong public support for a hostage deal despite some controversial terms that have been raised in light of the most recent negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
The poll also addressed Israeli public perceptions regarding responsibility for the October 7 attacks.
Nearly 40% of respondents attribute primary responsibility for mishandling the situation to Netanyahu. Channel 12's poll also highlightedother figures that the Israeli public heldaccountable: IDF Military Intelligence Directorate head Aharon Haliva, blamed by 18% of respondents; IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, by 10%; Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Director Ronen Bar, by 7%; and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, by 4%.
Over 6,000 Palestinians missing since conflict started
More than 6,000 Palestinians are reported as missing since the war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7 last year, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Friday (Jul 12).
Citing an ICRC spokesperson, a report by The Guardian said that many Palestinians have been believed to be trapped under debris, buried without identification, or held in Israeli detention while others have been separated from their families.
The ICRC engaged with 7,429 Palestinian families to gather information. Around 2,300 cases were resolved, meaning the families found their loved ones either dead or alive.
