Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav's eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav invited severe backlash after a video went viral in which he was seen angrily pushing away a party worker from the stage during a celebration.

The RJD leader and her sister Misa Bharti were in a gathering after her nomination which she filed from the Pataliputra seat on Monday (May 13) along with several other party workers when the incident took place.

Tej Pratap Yadav can be seen in the video grabbing one of the party workers and pushing him away.

As per local media reports, a scuffle broke out between the party workers on stage amid the celebrations in Shri Krishna Memorial Hall, Patna.

Tej Pratap issues clarification

Tej Pratap later took to his official X handle and said that there are always two sides to a coin and that it was the party worker who came in between his sister Misa Bharti and mother Rabri Devi on stage.

He then said that he sustained injury in his hand in the incident and was in immense pain and he had to push the individual away to save himself.

BJP slams Tej Pratap Yadav for his behaviour

The incident triggered massive outrage on social media with BJP denouncing Yadav for his actions.

"Lalu Prasad Yadav's good-for-nothing son Tej Pratap Yadav living up to his family tradition. Watch how he brutally manhandles a party worker in full public view. This is the difference between earning your stature and inheriting it," BJP leader Priti Gandhi said in a post on X.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also hit out at the RJD leader for putting on display his "VVIP arrogance".

Imagine if they are like this to workers on stage before elections what they will do to Janta after elections," said Poonawalla as he shared the video of the incident. 

YSR Congress MLA slaps voter in polling queue

Earlier, in a similar incident, YSR Congress Party's Tenali MLA and a candidate for state  assembly elections, A Sivakumar, slapped a voter after the latter called out the legislator for jumping the queue and not waiting for his turn at a polling booth located in the Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. 

In the 10-second video, the MLA is seen walking towards the voter and slapping him on his face. The voter is then seen returning the slap to the MLA, after which all the aides of the political leader jointly launch an attack on the voter.

A case against the MLA has been registered by the police and an investigation is going on. 

Posting the video, TDP leader Nara Lokesh wrote on X, "Voters who say that there is nothing to fear from YSRCP's rowdyism, I applaud your courage."
