The police arrested a man in the Guna district of India's Madhya Pradesh for torturing a woman and committing atrocities on her. According to the police, both of them were in a relationship.

Speaking to local media outlets, police officer Dileep Rajoriya said that the manhasbeen arrestedfor allegedly raping, thrashing and torturing a woman by sealing her mouth using adhesive and putting chilli power in her wound.

As per the police officer, the 23-year-old woman was being forced by the accusedAyanPathanto marry him.The police officer further said that the man also wanted her house, which was in the name of her mother.

The police officer added that the woman was assaultedwith a belt and a pipeby the man after her mother informed him that she had sold the house.

“He put chilli on her wounds and glue on her lips and mouth to stop her from screaming,” said police officer Rajoriya.He stated that the woman’s mother was not in Shivpuri when the victim was assaulted by Pathan.

The victim informed the police that the accused held her hostage for a month and repeatedly raped her.

She also confirmed to the police that the accused had his eyes set on the ancestral property of the victim and the property's registrationto be transferred in his name.

The officials admitted the victim to the district hospital. She is in critical condition and has been receiving medical treatment. According to the doctors, the woman's condition is serious.

The accused was arrested by the police based on the victim's statements and an investigation has been initiated in the case.

According to the police, they arrested Pathan when he was supplying liquor through illegal channels on Wednesday night (April 17).

The police have booked the accused under Indian Penal Code’s Sections 376 (rape), 294 (obscene language), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and under the Excise Act. Police officials have said that they can add more charges against the accused after an investigation.
