Man killed for staring at women smoking cigarettes
In a shocking case from the Indian state of Maharashtra, a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death for allegedly staring at two women whowere smoking. The incident, according to the police, took place on Saturday (Apr 6) night.
What we know about the fatal stabbing
Jayashree Panjhade and her friend Savita Sayre were smoking near a shop in Mahalaxmi Nagar in the city of Nagpur, on Saturday night when the 28-year-old victim, identified as Ranjit Rathod, came and began staring at the two women, said the police, as per media reports.

According to local officials, the women were angered when Rathod, who was also there to buy cigarettes, started staring at them. Subsequently, an argument broke out, which soon escalated into a fight which the 28-year-old had reportedly recorded.
The video shows Panjhade abusing him and blowing smoke at him. She later called her friend Akash Raut to the shop.

Raut arrived with his friends after Rathod had fled the scene. However, he and his friends went after the 28-year-old and allegedly stabbed him multiple times.
Three accused arrested
After the alleged stabbing police were called and the 28-year-old was reportedly rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the shopkeeper, Laxman Tawde told the police that he had shut the shop and left for his house after Raut was called.
The three accused Raut, Panjhade, and Sayre have been detained. “Police have arrested three accused and a case has been registered,” said the police.
The complaint was filed by Rathod’s relative and the trio was arrested under sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), according to local officials. The police are looking for the fourth accused, one of Raut’s friends.
