A man, identified by officials as Sahab Singh, lost his life in a tragic hit-and-run case in the north Indian state of Haryana. The incident took place on Saturday (Apr 8) in Karnal. The man was accompanied by his sister-in-law and niece. They were reportedly out on a post-dinner walk when a speeding car hit him.

The gruesome accident left his body reportedly in over a dozen pieces. Officials said that the body parts were assembled and sent for post-mortem. According to the local police, the victims were out for a walk on Assandh Road. 

Local reports mentioned that the passersby informed the police when they heard the woman scream.

The sister-in-law suffered a dismembered leg and the niece was found in a nearby field. Both were rushed to a hospital and are receiving treatment. 

Police located the car, which reportedly had Haryana's number. The driver appeared to have fled the scene. The vehicle was abandoned. 

While speaking to media, Sahab Singh's elder brother claimed that it was family members, who picked the body parts at the accident site.

His brother told the Times Of India, "They were taking a stroll after dinner when the speeding car struck them." 

"We recovered 17 fragments of his body from the scene. My wife lost her leg, and my daughter sustained a fracture," he added. 

The family of the victim also alleged that the police deliberately did not arrest the accused driver. However, police denied all the allegations, and said that probe is underway.
