Banerjee comments came days after West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh threatened "encounters" against TMC leaders and workers during a protest in Jalpaiguri.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said TMC is not a ''militant organisation'' like the BJP.

''We are not a militant organisation like the BJP. They are creating fights not only among Christians, Muslims but also among Hindus,'' the West Bengal CM was quoted as saying as per news agency ANI.

Banerjee's commentcomesdays after West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh threatened "encounters" against TMC leaders and workers during a protest in Jalpaiguri. Jalpaiguri protest was part of a state-wide movement led by the BJP to protest against the alleged murder of its workers in Purulia district last month.

Meanwhile, Jalpaiguri police on Thursday registered a suo-motu case against Ghosh for allegedly threatening the Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers.

On June 19, Ghosh, while addressing a protest rally said, "Every bullet will be made to count. Leaders who indulge in hooliganism in Bengal will soon either be in jail or straight away there will be an encounter," he said.

Ghosh is known for issuing frequent political threats.
