Karnataka assembly elections: Congress replaces 6 contenders in final list of candidates

Congress has replaced its candidates in Badami, Jagalur (reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidate), Tiptur, Malleshwaram, Padmanaba Nagar and Madikeri
The Congress on Sunday released its second and final list of candidates for theKarnataka assembly polls.
The party in its final list gave tickets to five candidates while replacing six contenders.
The list also includes Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who was already given a ticket from Chamundeshwari constituency in the firstlist.
Siddaramaiah will now contest from two constituencies
He will replace Dr Devraj Patil in Badami constituency in North Karnataka.
Besides Devraj Patil, Congresshas also replaced its candidates in Jagalur (reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidate), Tiptur, Malleshwaram, Padmanaba Nagar and Madikeri.

In Madikeri, K P Chandrakala will contest the election in the place of H S Chandra Mouli.
The Congress has fielded Dr B Inamdar, Vithal Dhondiba Katakdhond, Mallanna Niganna Sali, Syed Yasin and NA Harris from Kittur, Nagthan (reserved for scheduled castes), Sindgi, Raichur and Shanti Nagar respectively.
The party has not declared candidate for the Melkote segment, where it is likely to support Darshan Puttanaiah, who will fight the election on ticket from Swaraj India.
The Congress had released its first list of candidates onApril 15 announcing 218 candidates.
The election is scheduled to be held on May 12 and the poll results will be announced on May 15.
