Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah will contest from two seats, Chamundeshwari in Mysuru district and Badami in Bagalkot district (north Karnataka), in the assembly elections on 12 May.

Siddaramaiah has filed the nomination from both the constituency Badami and Chamundeshwari.

The decision on the seats for Siddaramaiah, whose political career has mostly been in the southern part of the state, comes at a time when Karnataka is witnessing one of its most fiercely contested elections in recent times.

On April 20, he had filed his nomination papers from Chamundeshwari constituency.

The&nbsp;elections in the state will be held on May 12 and result will be out on May 15.

The Congress on Sunday released its second and final list of candidates for the&nbsp;Karnataka assembly polls.

The party in its final list gave tickets to five candidates while replacing six contenders.&nbsp;

The list also includes <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/siddaramaiah-to-file-nomination-from-second-constituency-badami-on-april-24-132180">Chief Minister Siddaramaiah</a> who was already given a ticket from Chamundeshwari constituency in the first&nbsp;list.&nbsp;

Siddaramaiah will now contest from two constituencies&nbsp;

He will replace Dr Devraj Patil in Badami constituency in North Karnataka.

Besides Devraj Patil, Congress&nbsp;has also replaced its candidates in Jagalur (reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidate), Tiptur, Malleshwaram, Padmanaba Nagar and Madikeri.&nbsp;

In Madikeri, K P Chandrakala will contest the election in the place of H S Chandra Mouli.&nbsp;

The Congress has fielded Dr B Inamdar, Vithal Dhondiba Katakdhond, Mallanna Niganna Sali, Syed Yasin and NA Harris from Kittur, Nagthan (reserved for scheduled castes), Sindgi, Raichur and Shanti Nagar respectively.&nbsp;

The party has not declared candidate for the Melkote segment, where it is likely to support Darshan Puttanaiah, who will fight the election on ticket from Swaraj India.&nbsp;

The Congress had released its<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/congress-releases-list-of-218-candidates-for-karnataka-polls-130629"> first list of candidates on&nbsp;</a>April 15 announcing 218 candidates.&nbsp;

The election is scheduled to be held on May 12 and the poll results will be announced on May 15.&nbsp;

He had said earlier that he would leave the decision of contesting from two constituencies on senior party leaders.&nbsp;

The party, in its list of candidates contesting for the polls, had named Dr Devraj Patil as a nominee from Baduni. However, the party had put a hold on his B-form. In its final list of candidates, the party&nbsp;had replaced the name of Dr Patil with that of Siddaramaiah.

His desire to contest from two constituencies was not appreciated by veteran party leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge and Veerappa Moily.

Siddaramaiah had been representing Varuna constituency in Mysore since 2008. He later gave up the constituency for his son Dr Yatindra.
