An exchange of fire took placebetween terrorists and security forces in Lassipora of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, news agency ANI reported.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Panjran area ofPulwama following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.
He said a gunfight broke out as the militants opened fire at security personnel, forcing them to retaliate.

There was no report of any casualty so far, he added.
This comes days after two terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.
Earlier, the security forces had got a major breakthrough when one of the most wanted terrorists, Zakir Musa, was killed in an encounter in Tral in Pulwama on May 24.
