PM Narendra Modi addressed people on the government's Awas Yognathrough the Namo app today asserting that every Indian, rich or poor, must have a house.

"Will provide a roof for everyone, completed 50 lakh homes for the poor," Modi said.

Modi promised housing for everyone by 2022.

"The government is catering for the requirement of increased population," the Indian prime minister said, adding, "will ensure 3 crore houses rural areas in 2022, 1 crore houses in urban areas."

"Swachh Bharat, MGNREGA are linked in Awas Yogna,"Modi said while addressing people on the Namo app.

"Every human desires his or her own house. A person becomes much happier when he or she has a house. The Awas Yojana is not merely about brick and mortar," the PM said.

"During UPA government, beneficiaries were selected through BPL(Below Poverty Line) list. We started doing selection through socio-economic-caste-census with the help of which we added those beneficiaries who were left out earlier," he informed.
