Acid attack survivor seeks Shah Rukh Khan's help to open bank account

An acid attack survivor has reached out to Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan after she was denied a new bank account. It all began when acid attack survivor Pragya Prasun’s application for a bank account was rejected. In a tweet, she tagged Jawan star Shah Rukh and asked his help in the matter. In case you didn't know, Shah Rukh Khan runs a non-governmental organisation named Meer Foundation for the welfare of acid attack survivors. The Bollywood actor has not yet responded to the tweet, but the matter has grabbed attention on social media.
Acid attack survivor asks Shah Rukh Khan for help
On Wednesday, acid attack survivor Pragya Prasun took to Twitter and wrote, “Being an acid attack survivor shouldn't prohibit me from living a dignified life. It's unjust that I was denied a bank a/c because I can’t blink for the KYC process. Requesting Shah Rukh Khan and Meer Foundation to help me make this world inclusive for acid attack survivors #Iwontblink”.
For the unversed, Meer Foundation is a philanthropic foundation named after Shah Rukh’s late father Meer Taj Mohammed Khan. The NGO aims to work towards rehabilitating acid attack survivors. Meer Foundation also funds corrective surgeries.

Pragya Prasun files petition
Pragya Prasun has also filed an online petition to draw attention to the suffering of acid attack survivors like her. They are denied access to important services because facial recognition software has its limitations, and have to face degradation from society as well. The petition seeks change for thousands of people with eye problems or facial disfigurement.
"I was denied the opportunity to open a new bank account in ICICI Bank due to a new requirement for a video or live photo of the account holder blinking their eyes. As a survivor of an acid attack, I am unable to blink, which has resulted in my inability to access this service,” Pragya wrote in her petition as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming projects
Shah Rukh will appear in Atlee’s film Jawan. The movie also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani in pivotal roles. Jawan will hit theatres on September 7. Shah Rukh Khan also has Dunki with Rajkumar Hirani in the pipeline.
