Mercedes Benz AMG GT-R launched in India for Rs 2.23 crore

Mercedes-Benz India has launched two high performance cars in India to celebrate 50 years of the AMG performance brand.

Expanding its AMG portfolio to 12 models in India, Mercedes-Benz will be launching the GT Roadster and the GT-R at 2.19 crore (ex-showroom, India) and Rs 2.23 crore (ex-showroom, India) respectively.

The new Mercedes Benz AMG GT-R popularly known as "Beast of the Green Hell"is inspired from AMG GT3 racing car while the GT roadstar from GT-R.

Mercedes GT R which already holds the world record of the fastest rear-wheel-drive car around the famous Nurburgring circuit, again emerged as the fastest ever production car at a speed run conducted by FMSCI and the AMG GT R at the Buddh International Circuit wherein it covered the distance at a time of 2 minutes and 09.853 seconds.

The new sports car AMG GT R is the enhanced version of the GT S that is currently sold in India.The carbon fibre roof is designed to ensure high rigidity and safety and the 20 inch 5 spoke AMG aluminium wheels ensure weight savings. The sporty look is designed in a unique green colour with5-twin-spoke forged wheels with a matte black finish

AMG R, the Affalterbach tuned, 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, that generates 585 hp and 700 Nm of peak torque (75 hp and 50 Nm more than the GT S in India). The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox found in other GT model cars. With a maximum speed of 317 km/h, the GT R can sprint 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.
