Lamborghini launches Urus SE in India at INR 4.57 cr

Lamborghini has introduced the Urus SE plug-in hybrid SUV to the Indian market, priced at INR 4.57 crore (ex-showroom). This new model represents the most powerful version of the Urus yet, combining a robust hybrid powertrain with refined aesthetics. The Urus SE blends a twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor, enhancing performance and efficiency while introducing fresh design elements that distinguish it from the standard Urus and the Urus Performante.

Exterior Design: Bold and Dynamic

The Urus SE sports a more aggressive look, starting with slimmer headlamps outlined by C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). The front bumper features revised air intakes that appear larger than those on previous models, contributing to a more assertive front fascia. The new bonnet design extends past the headlamps, emphasising the SUV’s length and presence.

Along the sides, changes are subtle, with the main update being new alloy wheel designs. At the rear, the Urus SE showcases a redesigned tailgate and bumper. A new vent-like element runs across the width of the vehicle beneath the integrated spoiler lip, adding a touch of sophistication to its sporty profile.

Interior Upgrades: Advanced Technology and Comfort

Inside, the Urus SE features a refreshed interior layout, focusing on enhanced technology and comfort. The central touchscreen now measures 12.3 inches, offering an improved user interface. The climate control display has been repositioned lower and is separated from the main display by a strip of leather or Alcantara, giving the dashboard a more streamlined appearance. Some controls have been repositioned to improve ergonomics and ease of use.

Powertrain and Performance: Leading the Hybrid Charge

Under the hood, the Urus SE houses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 612 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. Although slightly less powerful than the Urus S, which offers 657 bhp and 850 Nm, the hybrid system compensates with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic gearbox. This motor delivers an additional 189 bhp and 483 Nm, bringing the total system output to an impressive 789 bhp and 950 Nm.

The plug-in hybrid system features a 25.9 kWh battery pack located beneath the boot floor, providing an all-electric range of 60 km. This setup enhances fuel efficiency and reduces emissions, aligning with Lamborghini's commitment to sustainability without compromising performance.

Performance Metrics: Speed and Agility

Lamborghini claims the Urus SE accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 3.4 seconds, making it 0.1 seconds faster than the Urus S, though 0.1 seconds slower than the Urus Performante. It reaches 0-200 kmph in a claimed 11.2 seconds, with a top speed of 312 kmph, surpassing both the Urus S and Performante.

The Urus SE's performance is further enhanced by a new centrally located longitudinal torque vectoring system, which dynamically distributes power between the front and rear axles. A rear electronic limited-slip differential provides additional traction and stability, especially during spirited driving.

Driving Modes: Versatility Meets Performance

Lamborghini has expanded the Urus SE’s drive mode selection, adding four new modes: EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge. These modes complement the existing six—Strada, Sport, and Corsa for road and track, and Neve, Sabbia, and Terra for off-road conditions—offering a comprehensive suite of options to suit various driving scenarios.
