FBI has released a clearer profile of the masked suspect in the kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie. With over 13,000 tips in and no arrest yet, they've also raised the reward to $100,000. All we know.
FBI investigators searching for missing Arizona resident Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "TODAY" show co-host Savannah Guthrie, have released new details about a masked suspect believed to be involved in the 84-year-old's kidnapping, as authorities continue to sort through thousands of public tips in the case.
What new details did the FBI release?
The FBI said a forensic review of surveillance footage shows the suspect is a man of average build, about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was seen carrying a black 25-litre Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack. "We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving," said the FBI in a statement. Officials also announced that they have increased the reward for information to 100,000 dollars.
The agency has till now, already received more than 13,000 tips from the public since Guthrie disappeared earlier this month.
Search intensifies in Arizona
Authorities in Pima County have asked residents in the Catalina Foothills area north of Tucson to share any video recordings taken between January 1 and February 2 near Guthrie’s home. Investigators, according to an X post by the Pima County Sheriff’s department, are particularly interested in "any video showing vehicles, traffic, pedestrians, or suspicious activity" within roughly a two-square-mile radius of the Guthrie residence.

The appeal follows a surge of calls after law enforcement released door camera images showing a masked and gloved individual outside Guthrie’s home in the early hours of February 1. Despite the influx of information, officials say no new suspects have been identified in the 12-day hunt for the abducted 84-year-old.
Police recover suspicious black gloves
On Wednesday (Feb 12) an extensive search of multiple roadways close to the Guthrie home led to the recovery of a pair of black gloves, local media reported. The gloves have been sent for DNA testing. Authorities have not confirmed whether the item is connected to the disappearance.
Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, television host Savannah Guthrie, has continued to urge the public to help find her mother. In a social media post, she shared family video footage and wrote that they would never stop searching. "We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly, around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where. And we need your help," she said.
