The man accused of killing her ex-girlfriend was found hanging from a tree on Saturday (Jul 19). His body was found a day after he stabbed to death his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend in Maharashtra's Nashik. The man has been identified as Sahil Lavhare and the 20-year-old student identified as Vaishnavi Aware. According to police, the two had previously been in a live-in relationship. After allegedly killing the woman, he called her fiancé and told him that she was dead.
As per reports, Aware and Lavhare had recently ended their relationship. The incident took place when Lavhare and Vaishnavi met near Vansampada Garden in Nashik's Indiranagar area. An argument broke out between them, after which Lavhare repeatedly stabbed the woman, who died on the spot. As Vaishnavi met her ex-boyfriend, she was on call with her fiance. According to reports, she said just before dying: “Sahil is here, come quickly.” After she was killed, Lavhare allegedly picked the phone and said: “Vaishu is finished.” Officials said the accused allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times and slit her throat with a knife.
Police found Lavhare hanging from a tree at a jogging track nearly two kilometres from the crime scene, officials added. He had previously fled the location. According to police, an argument broke out between the duo, then, “It turned violent when Lavhare attacked her with a knife. As Aware cried out for help, he slit her throat before fleeing the spot on a motorcycle,” an officer said. The residents alerted emergency services after hearing the scream. Aware was rushed to Nashik Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Senior officers, including assistant commissioner of police (Ambad division) Sachin Bari and senior inspector Manohar Karande of the Indiranagar police started probe.
