Robert De Niro's GF Tiffany was diagnosed with Bell's palsy after giving birth: 'Lost all facial function'

Hollywood veteran actor Robert De Niro's girlfriend, Tiffany Chen is talking about her challenging postpartum journey. In April, Chen gave birth to De Niro and her first child, a baby girl named Gia.

Tiffany faced horrific health conditions and was diagnosed with Bell's palsy soon after she gave birth to her daughter. In her first interview with CBS Mornings, the 45-year-old opened up about the strange complications like numbness in her tongue and feeling weird soon after she returned from the hospital after giving birth.

"When I went home, I started to feel like, my tongue felt strange," she told host Gayle King in the new preview clip shared.

"It felt a little tingly, just starting to get a little bit numb. And then I realised my face...my face just felt weird, '' she adds.

"Did it look different to you? Your face when you looked in the mirror?" King asks Chen in the clip. "Yeah," she responds before adding, "When I got home, it was like everything was starting to just fall down on itself. Like, my face was melting on itself.''

"And then a week after giving birth, that was when it all hit. And I called my doctor, and I was trying to eat." The mother-of-one adds,"I went to put a fork of food in my mouth and everything came out. I couldn't eat. And then I was starting to slur. So I said, 'There's something really going on here.' "

What is Bell's palsy?

Bell's palsy is a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. In most cases, the weakness is temporary and significantly improves over a few weeks, per the Mayo Clinic.

And the condition is very common post-pregnancy.

Robert De Niro's seventh child

In May, Legendary Hollywood actor Robert De Niro revealed that he had welcomed his seventh child at age 79. While promoting his movie About My Father, the Oscar-winning actor revealed that he had "just had a baby."

De Niro corrected an interviewer who suggested he only had six children, telling her it is now "seven, actually." De Niro has been romantically linked to Tiffany Chen for several years.

The actor is the father of six children. He shared daughter Drena, 51, and son Raphael, 46, with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott.In the mid-90s, he dated model Toukie Smith, with whom he had twin sons Julian and Aaron. The Taxi Driver star also had a son, Elliot, 24, and a daughter, Helen, 11, with socialite Grace Hightower.
