A female state senator in California has been sued by her former staffer who has accused her of demanding sexual favours from him while she was his boss and forcing him into a “quid pro quo relationship” which left him with back and hip injuries.

Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil’s former chief of staff Chad Condit filed a lawsuit against her and alleged that the lawmaker forced him to perform sex acts on her when they were travelling for work.

Condit, who is married, said that he relented and indulged in sexual activity with the senator for many years as part of a “sex-based quid pro quo relationship” so as to save his job, as per the suit filed in Sacramento Superior Court.

Condit has alleged that he suffered a debilitating back injury because he was forced to “twist and contort” while performing oral sex on his boss in a car because of which he suffered a collapsed hip and three herniated discs, as per the court papers.

Condit, who is a former Democratic Congressman's son, has given a detailed account of the situation which led him to the injuries in the lawsuit.

It reads: "They were driving together and they pulled over to go to the restroom. When he came back to the car, she had her pants pulled down and said: 'I want you to kiss it and prove your loyalty'."

Condit then claimed that he had to "twist and contort his body in the confined space of the car" which caused him injuries in the back and hip.

The former chief of staff said that he then used his back injury as an excuse to refuse the advances of the senator in August last year, however, she reacted to his refusal and gave him a disciplinary letter in which he was accused of inappropriate behaviour.

Condit said that he was fired from his job in December because he repeatedly refused the sexual advances of his boss and was undergoing back surgery, as per the lawsuit.

“This was a sex-based quid pro quo relationship of unwelcome advances and sexual behaviours coupled with punishment and flexing of power,” the suit alleged.

Senator reacts to 'sexual misconduct' allegation levied against her

Alvardo-Gil’s attorney Ognian Gavrilov has refuted the allegations levied against her by the former aide.

“A disgruntled former employee has fabricated an outlandish story, presented without evidence, to get a payday,” said Gavrilov, in a statement to The New York Post.

“We expect that the senator will be fully cleared of any wrongdoing of these bogus, financially motivated claims," he added.
