The Premier League 2026/27 season has started and nothing could have shocked the fans more than Manchester City's prolific striker Erling Haaland's buzz cut hair style. Famous for his flowing blonde hair, Haaland introduced the shock new look ahead of Manchester City's opening fixture against Bournemouth on Sunday (Aug 23). Manchester City came from behind to win the match 2-1, but Haaland failed to score his customary opening game goal for the first time in five seasons at City.
Haaland opening goal scoring in Premier League goes away with his hair?
On Sunday (Aug 23) morning, Haaland took to Instagram to post a series of photos with his new hair cut along with the caption "short hair don't care." The Norwegian striker later added a video as well, showing him before and after the new haircut. Joining in on the conversation, Manchester City also posted a video of their star player.
In the longer video of his Instagram clip, Haaland video called City's former manager Pep Guardiola for his reaction and the manager said: "No way! You are lucky you have hair, I would love to have it!"
The new haircut, however, coincided with Haaland failing to score in the opening game of Premier League for the first time in five seasons.
He had scored two goals against West Ham in 2022/23, two against Burnley in 2023/24, one against Chelsea in 2024/25, and two against the Wolves in 2025/26.
