Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain lost her quarterfinal bout in the Paris Olympics 2024 to end her campaign on a disappointing note. Borgohain ended with bronze in Tokyo Olympics, in 2021, and was expected to replicate the same this time around. However, Borgohain lost 1-4 to Asian Games champion Li Qian, of China,in the women's 75kg quarterfinal contest on Sunday (Aug 4). Following her exit, the boxer shared a heartfelt note for the countrymen and has vowed to make a strong comeback.
Taking to her official Instagram handle, Lovlina shared a lengthy note where she wrote, "I really want to say sorry to the entire Nation that I couldn’t bring a medal home this time. Especially to the people of Assam who always pray for me no matter what. I will work harder and come back stronger than ever next time. This isn’t over, looking for a fresh start once again."

She added, "I also want to thank all the coaches, support staff, SAI, Assam Government, BFI, Reliance Sports Foundation, IOS sports and all my sponsors for all the support and encouragement they showered on me."
Lovlina commenced her campaign in the ongoing Paris Games with a stunning win over Norway's Sunniva Hofstad. With that, she moved closer tosecuring another medal at the showpiece event, however, it wasn't meant to be as the 26-year-old lost in the quarterfinals;missing out on clinching two successive Olympic medals. With her exit, India's boxing campaign also concluded at the Paris Games.
Nonetheless, Lovlina remains in high spirits and is determined to make a strong comeback. It remains to be seen if she returns for the next Olympic edition, which will take place in 2028 in Los Angeles.
