
Dallas Mavericks' Luka Doncic stepped back to dodge Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert of Minnesota Timberwolves and dropped a go ahead three-pointer in Game 2 of the West Finals. All this with four seconds left in the game. As a result, Mavs won 109-108 and now enjoy a 2-0 lead in the series.
The Timberwolves lost the game despite leading by 18 points at one point in the game. Doncic, however, played the most clutch sequence of the game and denied the chance of equality to the NBA title favorites. Have a look at his shot below:
The game started with Minnesota determined to equal the series after losing the game 1. Timberwolves scored 32 points in the first quarter against Mavs' 26. In the second quarter, Timberwolves dropped 28 more while Dallas could score only 22 and trailed by 12 points going into the half-time.
Come third quarter, Dallas decided on offense and dropped 31 points against Minnesota's 26, cutting their deficit by five points. In the fourth quarter, Timberwolves just seemed to have gotten over the line before Doncic dropped that three-pointer and sent the Target Center in silence.
The Mavs point guard was pumped after making a fool of Gobert and appeared to say after the shot: “Motherf—er! You can’t f—ing guard me!” Have a look at the video below:
Luka finished the game with a triple-double of 32 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds and the next best for the Mavs was Kyrie Irving with 20 points.
For Minnesota, who ousted the defending champions Denver Nuggets in the West semis, Naz Reid was the highest scorer with 23 points while Anthony Edwards scored 21 points.
Earlier in Game 1, Mavericks had beaten Minnesota 108-106. The third game of the series is scheduled to be played on Tuesday (May 28).
