A search team found coloured plastic coins inside the Dera headquarters on Friday

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the now-disgraced former chief of the Dera Sacha Sauda, ran a parallel economy inside his headquarters in Sirsa, Haryana.

The Army, police, and paramilitary team searching his headquarters on Friday found plastic Rs 10 and 1 coins inside the Dera on Friday.

The search of the Dera HQ had been ordered by the Punjab and Haryana high court, and was led by a retired judge.

News reports quoted police as saying the Rs 10 coins were orange coloured, and that the Re 1 coins were blue coloured.

Police said the plastic coins were used as money at the shops inside the Dera headquarters.

The words "Dhan Dhan Satguru tera hiasara, Dera Sacha Sauda Sirsa" were inscribed on the coins.

Ram Rahim was convicted recently of raping two of his women disciples in 2002.

Some 41 paramilitary companies, four Army columns, police fromfour districts, one SWAT team, and a dog squad were deployed for the search operation at the Dera headquarters.

News reports said some 50 videographers and more than a dozen locksmiths accompanied the police, Army, and paramilitary personnel.

Digging machines were also taken into the HQ to look for hidden tunnels.

News reports said a large amount of cash was found.
