On Tuesday (August 12), a suspected Pakistani spy was arrested in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The accused was identified as Mahendra Prasad, a contractual employee of the DRDO guest house.
On Tuesday (August 12), a suspected Pakistani spy was arrested from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The accused was identified as Mahendra Prasad, a contractual employee of the DRDO guest house at Chandan Field Firing Range. He was arrested by Police CID (Security) Intelligence.
Prasad, a native of Palyun, Almora (Uttarakhand), was in constant contact with Pakistani intelligence handler and was allegedly leaking sensitive information. Ahead of Independence Day celebrations, the Rajasthan CID Intelligence was beefing up security, along with increasing surveillance on anti-national and suspicious activity. It was during the monitoring that Prasad’s activity came to light which later led to his arrest.
"He was detained on Monday. A joint interrogation will be conducted today," Superintendent of Police, Jaisalmer, Abhishek Shivhare was quoted by news agency PTI.
He added, “He is suspected to have provided sensitive information related to strategic operations and activities in the region.”
This particular DRDO guesthouse is also where experts and officials who are involved in tests and trials of missiles and weapons in Pokharan firing range stay. The manager in charge was sharing information on movement, among other details, with the handlers he was in contact.
