
One policeman was killed and another got critically after an imprisoned Pakistani terrorist on Tuesday firedat them inside Srinagar's Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital before fleeing from the spot.
The injured policeman, who was undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, died from his injuries, taking the death toll to two.
The terrorist, Abu Hanzulla alias Naveed Jatt,of thePakistan-basedterrorist outfitLashkar-e-Taiba, was being escorted for a medical test along with five other detainees. He escaped during the firing.As per preliminary information, he may have fled off with the snatched rifle.
"Six detainees were being brought from Central Jail. Out of them, one snatched weapons from police and fired at the protection party. One policeman is critically injured and another is injured. The prisoner's name is Naveed. He is probably an outsider,"Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parra earlier told ANI.

A resident of Multan, Pakistan, Abu Hanzulla was considered close to former Lashkar chief in Kashmir Abu Qasim and was arrested in March 2016 from Shopian.
He was also involved in many terror-related activities and was involved in many cases including the targeted killing of policemen.
He had a hand in the killing of at least seven policemen including threepolicemen near a court in Pulwama.
In 2014, Abu Hanzulla attacked a polling party near Shopian, killing a teacher on poll duty.
