Iran-aligned Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said on Tuesday (Oct 22) that it targeted two positions in the suburbs of Israel's Tel Aviv,including an intelligence base.

Citing a statement from Hezbollah, a report by the news agency AFP said that a salvo of rockets was fired against theGlilot base of the 8200 military intelligence unit.

The statement added that Hezbollah fired rockets at another position in Tel Aviv's suburbs. The militant group also launched rockets at an Israeli Navy base in Haifa.

The Israeli military said in a statement that following sirens "in central Israel, approximately five projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon. The majority... were intercepted."

Israel bombs Hezbollah-linked finance group Al-Qard Al-Hassan

Hezbollah's attacks came a day after the Israeli military announced that it was bombingthe Lebanese branchesof an association accused of financing Hezbollah.

According to Lebanese state media on Monday (Oct 21), there were 11 Israeli strikes onBeirut's southern suburbs, many of them targeting Al-Qard Al-Hassan- which is linked to Hezbollah's financial operations.

The conflict between Israel and Iran-aligned Lebanese militant group Hezbollahresumed a year ago when the militant group began firing rockets at Israel in support of Palestinian militants Hamas at the start of the Gaza war.

As per the Lebanese health ministry, the ongoing conflict has killed more than 2,400 people and injured over 11,600 othersin the country.

Blinken reaches West Asia for new ceasefire push

In the latest updates from the West Asia crisis, United States (US) Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived inWest Asia on Tuesday to launch another push for an elusive ceasefire, seeking to revive negotiations to end the Gaza war and defuse the spillover conflict in Lebanon.

This ishis 11th trip to the region since the Gaza war began on October 7 last year.

In a statement, the US State Department said that Blinken woulddiscuss with leaders in Israel and neighbouring Arab states the importance of ending the war in Gaza, ways to chart a post-conflict plan for the Palestinian enclave, and how to reach a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Blinken will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and other officials during the day as part of a week-longvisit that also includes Jordan and Qatar.
