Will Jacks hit his maiden IPL hundred against Gujarat Titans as RCB chased 201 with nine wickets remaining in Ahmedabad on Sunday (April 28). The right-handed batter completed his second fifty injust10 balls, including hitting 28 off Rashid Khan in the penultimate over. Star batter Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 70 off 44 balls. With this, RCB won its second consecutive match this season, third overall.

The touring Bengaluru side elected to bowl first in Ahmedabad, getting rid of both openers cheaply. GlennMaxwell’sreturn after a break brought some smiles as he accounted for GT Captain Shubman Gill on 16. For the hosts, Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan stitched an 86-run stand for the third wicket, with both completing respective fifties.

ShahrukhKhan’spromotion up the order helped the cause as he hit his maiden fifty this season, scoring 58 off 30 balls, including five sixes and three fours. DavidMiller’slate cameo of 26 from 19 balls saw Gujarat hit 200 for three in 20 overs.

Jacks to the rescue

RCB’sstar-studded opening pair of Captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli began stunningly as the pair added 40 for the first wicket inside four wickets.Faf’swicket brought the English all-rounder Jacks to the crease, and the carnage began from that point.

The two batters took the attack to the opposition, with Kohli being the aggressor of the two in the beginning. However, the tides turned as the game entered into its second half. While they looked dominant in their approach, Jacks took the onus on himself and put RCB in the winning position right after completing his fifty.

In the next ten deliveries, he smashed another fifty - the fewest taken by anyone from 50 to reach 100 in IPLand get to his maiden hundred and his team across the winning line with nine wickets in hand.

Jacks'hundred came in 41 balls - the fifth-highest in the tournament history. Besides, it was alsoRCB’ssecond-highest successful run-chase in IPL.
