IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants' Shivam Mavi ruled out due to injury
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be without all-rounder Shivam Mavi for the remainder of IPL 2024. The right-handed bowler suffered an injury that ruled him out of the tournament, the franchise revealed in a video posted on their social media handles. Without mentioning the nature of the injury, Mavi said he would miss the tournament.
“I will miss [the tournament] a lot. I had come here after an injury and had thought I would play matches for my team and do well. But unfortunately, I will have to leave because I have suffered an injury,” Mavi said in the video.

He continued saying that a cricketer has to be mentally strong, knowing that injuries are part of the game and that one should know how to make a comeback.
“A cricketer has to be mentally strong for this. If you have an injury, you need to see what you have to do to make a comeback, what things you need to take care of,” he added.

The newly inducted IPL franchise bought Mavi for INR 6.4 crores at this year’s auction, but the all-rounder hasn’t played a competitive match since August 2023.
Mavi also said he will be cheering for his team from the sidelines.
"We got a very good team. I will keep cheering for the team, and hopefully, we will win,” he concluded.
LSG looking strong on points table
Meanwhile, LSG is fourth on the points table with two wins from three matches, the latest of which came against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Tuesday (April 2).
LSG’s newest pace sensation, Mayank Yadav, was again the architect of the victory, picking three wickets for just 14 runs from four overs. He won his second Player of the Match award in his second IPL game, traumatising batters with his searing pace across two games.
Speaking of his match-winning performance, Mayank said,“Feels really good; two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start.”
“I enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most. There are a lot of factors to bowl quick - diet, sleep, training. I am focussing a lot on my diet and recovery - ice bath,” he added.
Although LSG hasn’t named Mavi’s replacement yet, they have plenty of options to pick from - Matt Henry, Shamar Joseph, Mohsin Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mayank Yadav, Yash Thakur, Arshad Khan and Yudhvir Singh.
