A woman was allegedly molested inside an ambulance in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh while she was taking her husband to a hospital.

When the woman resisted the assault, the ambulance workers threw her and her husband out of the ambulance after removing his oxygen support. 

The incident occurred on August 30 in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district. 

The police have arrested the attendant of the ambulance in connection with the case, alleging an attempt to rape and robbery.

Lucknow ACP Anindya Vikram Singh said that with the help of surveillance, the police arrested the ambulance helper, Rishabh Singh, a resident of Kunhargan in Ayodhya, on Thursday (Sep 5).

The ACP added that the ambulance was also recovered at the same location.

The ambulance driver forced the woman to sit in the front seat with him and along with the other person, he sexually assaulted her. As she shouted to save herself and her husband, they removed her husband's oxygen support and threw them out of the ambulance. 

Her husband was severely injured in the incident and his health further worsened after the ambulance helper removed his oxygen supply. 

The woman's husband later died during treatment at Gorakhpur Medical College.

Police find ambulance

Moreover, the police have recovered the ambulance that was involved in the incident. They have also identified the driver and are conducting raids at different places to locate him. 

Lucknow ACP highlighted that during interrogation, the accused helper identified the ambulance driver as Suraj Tiwari, a resident of Purwa in Unnao. However, he has not been located even after multiple police raids. 

The accused claimed that the driver allegedly misbehaved with the woman in a drunken state. Tiwari and the helper snatched Rs 10,000 ($119.07), a mangalsutra, anklets, and other documents from the woman before fleeing from the scene.
