The local court convicted the infamous paedophile Ajaz Sheikh bringing relief to the hundreds of victims.
Sheikh misused the trust people had in the positions he held as an imam, teacher, and faith healer in the area. He exploited his position and sway to sexually abuse children for over 30 years and never got caught. There are thousands of victims of Sheikh&rsquo;s abuse in the district, and some of them have shared their horrific abuse tales.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sopore Court&nbsp;on Tuesday sentenced the convict to 14 years of imprisonment, seven years each in two cases. He will also have to pay a fine of 50,000 rupees to each of the victims. The victims are also at liberty to approach authorities for compensation.

It was during this time that he would sexually abuse them. I also became a victim of the same,&rdquo; said one of the victims.
The first FIR against Sheikh was filed on March 2, 2016. A chargesheet was produced against him in 2017, and since then the legal battle has been going on. The defence lawyers made their arguments in January this year. Over the course of time, the case saw many replacements; the judges were replaced six times, while the prosecutors were changed four times as well.

Imam convicted for sexually abusing hundreds of children for three decades in Kashmir Valley

Police in the south Indian state of Kerala have arrested 57 of the 59 people accused of the alleged years-long sexual abuse of an 18-year-old Dalit girl in Pathanamthitta district.
District Police Chief VG Vinod Kumar said all the listed accused, except two who are currently abroad, have been arrested after a comprehensive probe.
A special investigation team led by woman IPS officer S Ajitha Beegam has been investigating the case.
The police made the latest arrest in the case on Sunday (Jan 19). The accused, VS Arun (25), was taken into custody near his house in the district.
<h2 dir="ltr">62 Individuals accused of exploiting the victim for 5 years</h2>
The victim had accused 62 individuals of blackmailing and sexually abusing her over five years since the age of 13. The abuse came to light when the teen's teachers informed the District Child Welfare Committee about noticeable changes in her behaviour.

A Georgian gay couple has been sentenced to 100 years in jail for sexually abusing their two adopted sons. The couple William (34) and Zachary Zulock (36) adopted two brothers, who are now 12 and 10, from a Christian special-needs agency. The New York Post reported quoting Walton County District Attorney's office that the couple will spend the rest of their lives in jail without any parole. 
District Attorney Randy McGinley, while convicting them, said that the couple "truly created a house of horrors and put their extremely dark desires above everything and everyone else".

Roger Golubski, a former Kansas police detective who was indicted for kidnapping and raping two Black women decades ago, has committed suicide ahead of his trial.

The white officer who was accused of sexually assaulting multiple Black women throughout his career was found dead when authorities conducted a check on his Edwardsville house after he failed to show up for jury selection in his long-awaited trial.

The meeting with around 15 victims, taking place at 6:30 pm (1630 GMT) at the Vatican's diplomatic mission, was being held with the "utmost discretion", according to the Belgian church.

It was arranged after a hard-hitting documentary last year put Belgium's abuse scandal back on the front pages, prompting many new victims to come forward.

In an open letter published by Le Soir newspaper this month, some demanded the pope address paedophilia and set up a process for financial reparations.

"Words alone are not enough. Concrete measures must also be taken," Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said in a preamble to the pope's speech.&nbsp;

The pontiff said the abuse scandal was "a scourge that the Church is addressing firmly and decisively by listening to and accompanying those who have been wounded, and by implementing a prevention programme throughout the world".

Her husband was severely injured in the incident and his health further worsened after the ambulance helper removed his oxygen supply.&nbsp;

The woman's husband later died during treatment at Gorakhpur Medical College.&nbsp;

UP: Woman harassed by ambulance driver, sick husband thrown out without oxygen dies

The principal, class teacher and female attendant of a school in Mumbai's Thane district have been suspended after two nursery students, aged four, were sexually abused by the sweeper.&nbsp;

The school administration had also formed an inquiry committee to prevent similar incidents in the future. CCTV cameras were being installed across the facility as the parents demanded protection for their kids.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar said the state government had put four civil servants to oversee the developments in the case.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"This is a very sad incident. The entire machinery of the state education department has been activated. We have given instructions to 4 IAS officers from Pune and Mumbai. We are inquiring why the CCTV was not working in the school, said Kesarkar.&nbsp;

"After the complaint was given, no action was taken. So the senior PI has been transferred. We will take this case to fast-track&nbsp;court and ensure that the maximum punishment is given to the accused. Japan's government is calling for increased supervision of US troops stationed in the country after a US soldier was charged over the alleged sexual assault of a Japanese teenager in Okinawa.

The prosecutors in the southern island region charged the US soldier in March, top government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi told reporters on Tuesday (June 25).

According to the local media, the 25-year-old man allegedly assaulted her on 24 December and he was identified through security camera footage after the girls' family reported it.
