A 15-year-old, who was allegedly sexually abused, gave birth to a girl at her home in Nagpur in the western Indian state of Maharashtra,&nbsp;after watching several YouTube tutorials&nbsp;on childbirth. She&nbsp;killed the newborn after birth, according to a report from news agency PTI.

The teenager, who lives in the Ambazari neighbourhood, came up with the concept of home birth and began watching YouTube tutorials in order to discreetly deliver the baby at home.&nbsp;

"She hid her baby bump from her mother by telling her that she was having some health issues," officials said.

"On March 2, she gave birth to a girl at her home and immediately strangled the newborn to death. She hid the body in a box in her home," they added.

When the girl's mother returned home, she questioned her about her health condition.&nbsp;"The girl narrated her ordeal to her mother, following which she was taken to a hospital. The body of the newborn was sent for postmortem," officials said.

The minor allegedly befriended a man she met online. She had once been taken to a friend's house by the man, where he had forced himself on her after making her drink alcohol, as per TOI.&nbsp;

Police are still trying to trace the man, according to senior inspector Gajanan Kalyankar of the Ambazari police station.

“Police are still unsure about many questions in the case. We have a preliminary version of the minor and her mother, but a detailed inquiry is required,” said Kalyankar.

The police have reported a rape offence and a case of accidental death of the newborn. They are awaiting the results of the post-mortem to determine if the child was stillborn or killed after delivery.&nbsp;

In practice, there are several regions in the country which have banned “lewd” acts with minors which is the closest thing to the age of consent being 18 in Japan. However, they do not lead to harsh sentences and significantly lighter penalties than rape charges while also terming sex with children “unethical” conduct as opposed to a crime, said Kazuna Kanajiri, an activist fighting against pornography and sexual exploitation, to AFP.&nbsp;

The head of the Tokyo-based group PAPS also said that&nbsp;the current laws leave room for perpetrators to “shift blame to the victims, and argue that sex was initiated or enjoyed by the children”.&nbsp;

Additionally, since the age of consent is low it has also meant that teen rape survivors are held at the same level for prosecuting perpetrators as adults do. According to the current Japanese criminal law, the victim needs to meet two conditions, in order to secure a conviction.

In what is often referred to as one of the most controversial provisions, the sex must be non-consensual and the prosecution must be able to prove that the rape perpetrator&nbsp;used “violence and intimidation” and that it was “impossible to resist”.&nbsp;

On Tuesday, February 7, Judge Herron lifted a series of suppression orders in the Barry Cable case. The civil trials will begin on Wednesday, February 8.

“Abuse in the NWSL is rooted in a deeper culture in women’s soccer, beginning in youth leagues, that normalizes verbally abusive coaching and blurs boundaries between coaches and players.”

The controversy started in 2021 when former North Carolina Courage head coach Paul Riley faced allegations of sexual abuse after a report by The Athletic. The report carried first-hand accounts from a number of players who played under him since 2010. In the aftermath of the controversy, former Commissioner Lisa Baird lost her job and Sally Q. Yates launched this investigation.

We are taking the immediate action that we can today and will convene leaders in soccer at all levels across the country to collaborate on the recommendations so we can create meaningful, long-lasting change throughout the soccer ecosystem,” she added.

A college student who had allegedly been sexually assaulted while disembarking from an Uber auto (tuk-tuk) has expressed dissatisfaction with the ride aggregator and the company's response. The incident took place in the southern Indian city of Chennai when the woman and her friend reached their destination via an Uber ride. According to the complainant, she was stepping out of the auto and her friend was making the payment, when the driver allegedly sexually assaulted her and then managed to escape.

Based on the complaint, the police are said to have arrested the driver and seized his vehicle and also got the related CCTV footage.

However, the complainant is extremely unhappy with the way the ride aggregator has dealt with the situation and their lack of proper responses.

Speaking to WION, the student (complainant) said that an Uber representative had initially assured legal action and also mentioned that the driver would possibly be suspended. However, despite requests, Uber did not share the mobile number of the said driver. She had been seeking the mobile number of the said driver, as she wanted to share the same with the Police.

As Uber customers only have access to the common landline number that drivers use to call customers and vice versa, she doesn't have the&nbsp;auto driver’s personal contact number, which was one of the prime information that was missing on the FIR. This ultimately is said to have led to a delay in Police’s investigation. She said that Uber representatives who called her later, were clueless about the particular incident, as there was no communication within their team.

India: 'Dissatisfied with company's response', says woman who faced sexual assault on Uber ride

A young female parliamentary researcher has claimed that she was sexually assaulted by a serving Cabinet minister, Daily Mail has reported.

The woman, who worked at No 10 when the incident happened, alleged that she was groped by a Tory MP who has since been promoted to the Cabinet rank.

In an interview to the Sky News's ‘The Open Secret’ podcast, the woman, who has not been identified, said, “I was sexually assaulted by someone who's now a Cabinet minister, and I was in my early 20s and didn't really know how to deal with it.”

“I was super drunk. He's feeding me more wine and I'm already quite obviously tanked. After a while, I was like, ‘you know, what? Would you mind if I just went to bed?’ So, I went to bed,” she said.

“But obviously he didn't leave me alone. And then I woke up the next morning and I realised what had happened,” she added.

According to reports, the former House of Commons staff member later informed her colleagues and the MP she was working for at the time, who encouraged her to report it to the police. But she didn’t choose to press the matter further and also did not lodge a formal complaint to the Conservative Party.

“I was too scared to kickstart that process and risk it spiralling out of control,” she was quoted as saying.

But after the MP was elevated to the Cabinet rank, the woman decided to file a formal complaint.

“I heard that he was going to get a job in Downing Street. I raised it with a number of people. Nothing happened. So I then formally complained to the Cabinet Office. I just felt the responsibility to do it again, partly because the office he's going to be working in is full of women. And I just thought he'd do it again.”

However, she claimed that one of Boris Johnson's aides dismissed her complaint.

The Conservative party is said to have probed the matter, but it was not upheld as there was no footage or witnesses.

Meanwhile, a government spokesman told Daily Mail, “We take allegations of misconduct extremely seriously and there are robust procedures in place to raise concerns. All ministerial appointments also follow established processes.”

But after the MP was elevated to the Cabinet rank, the woman decided to file a formal complaint. “I heard that he was going to get a job in Downing Street. I raised it with a number of people. Nothing happened. So I then formally complained to the Cabinet Office. I just felt the responsibility to do it again, partly because the office he's going to be working in is full of women. And I just thought he'd do it again.” However, she claimed that one of Boris Johnson's aides dismissed her complaint. From late 1800s to 1996, around 150,000 Native children in Canada attended residential schools run by the church. Most of these students were subjected to physical and sexual abuse and reportedly died of disease, malnutrition and neglect.

 
The matter made headlines after hundreds of unmarked graves were found on the sites of these schools.&nbsp;Over 1,300 such graves were discovered at these sites till last year.

 
The 85 year old, who termed the horrific incident a “genocide,” said, listening to elderly people who lost their children and don't know where they ended up because of the assimilation policy, was "a painful moment".

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada dubbed the practice "cultural genocide" because it resulted in the starvation or beating of the kids for speaking their native tongues, as well as the sexual assault of many of them.

During the course of the trial, a total of 45 witnesses – 11 being alleged victims of Kelly – appeared in front of the court and he was even found guilty of racketeering – the worst of the charges.

The biggest aspect of the R Kelly trial was his controversial relationship with late singer Aaliyah whom he illegally married when she was just 15 years old. AFP reported that his former manager admitted to bribing officials in order to get fake identification for Aaliyah in order to complete the marriage.

According to reports, the woman was later fired by Alibaba after she made her allegations public.

Guo, who has been in custody for nearly a year, has about eight months left to serve of his sentence.

The verdict is significant considering that the majority of sexual assault cases do not make it to court in China, with the conviction rate being dismal.

Though many expressed sympathies for the victim, there was also equal amount of criticism against her on social media for getting drunk. There was condemnation, too, of the country's office drinking culture and Alibaba's handling of the case.

The woman first made her ordeal public by sharing an 11-page document accounting the incident. She alleged that her manager raped her in a hotel room while she was unconscious after a "drunken night" last summer.

The incident triggered rage on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, with many demanding action against the Alibaba Group.

The public backlash forced Alibaba to fire her co-worker, while the two executives who failed to act on the allegation also resigned.

A memo was issued saying Alibaba was "staunchly opposed to forced drinking culture".

At least 600 young people were documented as having been abused by Catholic priests in the German diocese of Muenster, but the actual number of victims could be 10 times higher, a report published Monday said.

The diocese has official records on 610 abuse victims, according to the report by the University of Muenster—around a third more than indicated by a previous study from 2018.

However, historian Natalie Powroznik, who was involved in the study, said the true number of victims could be much higher, with "about 5,000 to 6,000 affected girls and boys" in the diocese.

At least 5,700 individual acts of sexual abuse have been committed by a total of 196 clergymen, including 183 priests, according to the report.

Five percent of the clergymen involved were found to be serial offenders who had victimised more than ten people, and less than ten percent had faced any legal consequences.

At the peak of the abuse during the 1960s and 1970s, there were on average two cases per week in the diocese, the report said.

Three in four victims were boys, the majority between 10 and 14 years old, with many of the acts committed against altar boys or at children's and youth camps.

The study reported considerable psychological consequences for the victims reaching into adulthood, including depression and suicidal thoughts, with indications of attempted suicide in 27 cases.

Widespread abuse

The bishop of Muenster, Felix Genn, is due to comment in detail on the study on Friday.

The authors accuse Genn, who has been the bishop of Muenster since 2009, of failing to take action against abusers.

In an initial response on Monday, Genn said he would "naturally accept responsibility for the mistakes I myself made in dealing with sexual abuse".

Germany's Catholic Church has been rocked by a string of reports in recent years that have exposed widespread abuse of children by clergymen.

A study commissioned by the German Bishops' Conference in 2018 concluded that 1,670 clergymen in the country had committed some form of sexual attack against 3,677 minors between 1946 and 2014.

However, the real number of victims is thought to be much higher.

In January, a report into the diocese of Munich and Freising found indications of sexually abusive behaviour in 235 people it investigated, including 173 priests, while there were at least 497 victims.

The report also found former pope Benedict XVI had knowingly failed to take action to stop four priests accused of child sex abuse in in the 1980s, when he was the archbishop of Munich.

Another report published last year exposed the scope of abuse committed by priests in Germany's top diocese of Cologne.

5,700 acts of sexual abuse committed by German Catholic priests: Report

A woman who accused Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her in the mid-1970s began her court testimony on Monday, describing how she and a friend met the comedian as teenagers and accompanied him to the famed Playboy Mansion. 
 
Judy Huth, who has filed a civil lawsuit against Cosby for unspecified damages, told jurors she was playing frisbee at a public park on a weekday when she noticed a movie filming nearby. She and a friend, Donna Samuelson, walked closer and recognized Bill Cosby, Sidney Poitier and other actors. 
 
Cosby approached the girls and they "bantered," she said, before he invited them to meet him the following Saturday at a tennis club. She and Samuelson were "excited," she said. 
 
"We were kids. It was a celebrity. It was out of the norm, that`s for sure," she said. 
 
Huth said she and Samuelson met Cosby at the tennis club, then followed him by car to his home, played a few games of pool and followed him to another location. Huth realized it was the Playboy Mansion when Cosby pointed out a picture of Hugh Hefner on the wall. 
 
Huth, 64, is set to continue her testimony on Tuesday. 
 
In her lawsuit, Huth said Cosby forced her to perform a sex act while she was at the mansion. She previously said the incident occurred in 1974, when she was 15, but recently said she now believes it was 1975. 
 
The civil trial in California, one of the last legal cases against Cosby, is taking place 11 months after Cosby was freed from prison when Pennsylvania`s highest court threw out his sexual assault conviction in a different case. 
 
Cosby`s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean said in opening statements that the alleged assault of Huth was a "fabrication," though Cosby did not dispute that he invited Huth and her friend to the mansion. 
 
"The evidence is going to show that Ms Huth is not telling the truth," she said. 
 
Huth's friend, Samuelson, recounted her recollection of events earlier Monday. Bonjean challenged her account of the mansion visit, noting that Samuelson had recalled playing a Donkey Kong arcade game, which was not introduced until 1981. 
 
Cosby, 84, is not expected to attend the trial. 
 
The comedian and actor is best known for his role as the lovable husband and father in the 1980s television comedy series "The Cosby Show," earning him the nickname "America`s Dad." 
 
But his family-friendly reputation was shattered after more than 50 women accused him of sexual assaults over nearly five decades. 
 
In 2018, Cosby was found guilty of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand, an employee at Temple University in Philadelphia, in his home in 2004. 
 
Pennsylvania`s Supreme Court overturned Cosby`s conviction in June 2021, after Cosby had served more than two years of a three- to 10-year sentence. 
 
The court said Cosby should not have faced the charges because a previous district attorney had publicly promised in 2005 not to prosecute him. In March, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review that decision.

Judy Huth, who has filed a civil lawsuit against Cosby for unspecified damages, told jurors she was playing frisbee at a public park on a weekday when she noticed a movie filming nearby. She and a friend, Donna Samuelson, walked closer and recognized Bill Cosby, Sidney Poitier and other actors. Cosby approached the girls and they "bantered," she said, before he invited them to meet him the following Saturday at a tennis club. She and Samuelson were "excited," she said. "We were kids. It was a celebrity. It was out of the norm, that`s for sure," she said. Huth said she and Samuelson met Cosby at the tennis club, then followed him by car to his home, played a few games of pool and followed him to another location. Huth realized it was the Playboy Mansion when Cosby pointed out a picture of Hugh Hefner on the wall. Huth, 64, is set to continue her testimony on Tuesday. In her lawsuit, Huth said Cosby forced her to perform a sex act while she was at the mansion. She previously said the incident occurred in 1974, when she was 15, but recently said she now believes it was 1975. The civil trial in California, one of the last legal cases against Cosby, is taking place 11 months after Cosby was freed from prison when Pennsylvania`s highest court threw out his sexual assault conviction in a different case. Cosby`s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean said in opening statements that the alleged assault of Huth was a "fabrication," though Cosby did not dispute that he invited Huth and her friend to the mansion. "The evidence is going to show that Ms Huth is not telling the truth," she said. Huth's friend, Samuelson, recounted her recollection of events earlier Monday. Bonjean challenged her account of the mansion visit, noting that Samuelson had recalled playing a Donkey Kong arcade game, which was not introduced until 1981. Cosby, 84, is not expected to attend the trial. The comedian and actor is best known for his role as the lovable husband and father in the 1980s television comedy series "The Cosby Show," earning him the nickname "America`s Dad." But his family-friendly reputation was shattered after more than 50 women accused him of sexual assaults over nearly five decades. In 2018, Cosby was found guilty of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand, an employee at Temple University in Philadelphia, in his home in 2004.
