If you've got a secret desire to get a selfie clicked with one -- or some -- of your favourite celebrities and public figures, Madame Tussauds takes you a step closer. People in the capital city were much enthused to learn about the opening of the 23rd and the latest addition to the series of Madame Tussauds attractions in the historic Regal building which was thrown open on Friday.
"We are extremely thrilled to be opening our doors," Anshul Jain of Merlin Entertainments, which owns all Madame Tussauds attractions across the globe, said.
The attraction houses close to 51 wax figures of eminent personalities from different fields like history, sports, music, film and politics among others. New Delhi Madame Tussauds is divided into 7 sections.
At New Delhi Madame Tussauds, you are sure to share a date with celebrities including Salman Khan, Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson, Madhubala, Raj Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Asha Bhonsle, Sonu Nigam, Lady Gaga, Marilyn Monroe, and Madonna.
"The wax figure of Raj Kapoor here is the only figure in black and white," a Madame Tussauds spokesperson told PTI.
Visitors are offered interactive opportunities where they can sport accessories adorned by celebrity figures and get themselves clicked.
There is a dedicated section that educates visitors about the history of the making of Madame Tussauds, explaining the entire process behind the creation of a celebrity wax figure, from sculpting, moulding, hair insertion, colouring to eyes and teeth making, wardrobe and finishing. Another section features a 20-minute film where Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks about his experience of getting his wax figure made at Madame Tussauds.
Sports enthusiasts get to visit a dedicated sports corner which includes wax figures of Mary Kom, David Beckham, Milkha Singh, Usain Bolt, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar among others.
A flight of stairs will lead you to the history section that houses wax figures of national leaders like PM Modi, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel and APJ Abdul Kalam.
Tickets will be available for Rs 960 for adults and at Rs 760 for children.
