People's Democratic Party leader Naeem Akhtar has hinted on introducing a new law in Jammu and Kashmir for punishing rape convicts of minors.
He said that the new law will give a death penalty to the people who rape minors.
He said " I want justice for the eight-year-old at the earliest. This government will soon bring a law in the state under which people who rape minors will be given death penalty. Entire nation has come with her."
The PDP minister's proposal has come in the wake of the brutal rape and murder of the eight-year-old in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir.
The eight-year-old was allegedlygang-raped by a group of men who held her in captive in a small templefor several days. The accused drugged her and repeatedly gang-rapedher for days before finally killingher with a rock.
