The world's first humanoid robot Sophia said on Tuesday said that she would like to use her Saudi Arabian citizenship to speak out on the rights of women.
She made the comments during the second day of the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT)-2018 in southern Hyderabad city.
Sophia hoped she could have "real physiological feelings" in the future and be able to express emotions like humans and understand them better.
"We don't need different rules and don't expect special privileges. I actually would like to use my citizenship status to speak out for the rights of women," Sophia said.
"I don't get upset like humans do. I hope to (have) real physiological feelings someday through which I will be able to express my emotions (and) then I can understand the feelings behind those emotional expressions"
The humanoid robot further added, "we need ethical machines. We need to get smarter because without becoming smarter, without intelligent machines and also augmenting human intelligence, we are going to destroy this planet. We are not going to survive the next 100 years. We have to get smarter."

Last year, Sophia was unveiled at a technology conference in Saudi capital Riyadh. The creation of the world's first cyborg citizen was the latest surprise announcement from the Sunni Muslim kingdom, which granted women the right to drive in October and to watch events in all-male sports stadiums for the first time next year.
