Fighter pilot Air Marshal NJS Dhillon appointed new Strategic Forces Command chief

Air Marshal NJS Dhillon has been appointed the new chief of Strategic Forces Command (SFC). 

The Strategic Forces Command looks after the strategic nuclear arsenal of the country. 

Born in 1961, Air Marshal Dhillon hails from Dhand village near Amritsar, Punjab.

He was graduated from the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla in Pune and went on to attend Defence Services Staff College in Wellington Cantonment.

Dhillon later went to National Defence College in New Delhi.

Dhillon's appointment comes just a week after Vice Admiral Karambir Singh was appointed the next Chief of Naval Staff. Singh will be replacing Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba who will vacate the office on May 31, 2019.
