As the 17th Lok Sabha term in India is set to expire on June 16, 2024, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule of Lok Sabha elections in March.

The polls were conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19 to June 1. While the results will be declared on June 4.

The Lok Sabha elections in the north Indian state of Punjab were conducted in a single phase on June 1.

How many Lok Sabha seats are there in Punjab?

Punjab has a total of 13 Lok Sabha seats out of which, four are reserved for the Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and the remaining are unreserved.

-The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) handed the ticket to former Congress MP and former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh's wife Preneet Kaur from Patiala who had won the same seat in the 2019 general elections on Congress ticket.

- Dinesh Singh "Babbu" has been handed the ticket from the Gurdaspur seat.

- Singer and MP from North West Delhi Hans Raj Hans has been fielded from the Faridkot seat.

- BJP fielded former Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu from the Amritsar constituency.

- From the Jalandhar constituency, the party fielded former AAP leader Sushil Kumar Rinku.

- MP Ravneet Singh Bittu has been fielded from the Ludhiana seat.

Punjab Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Winners List

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the Indian National Congress (INC)-led UPA alliance secured eight seats, whereas NDA got four.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which made its debut, won one seat.
