
Vincent Kompany is all set to be namedasthe new Bayern Munich manager as the German club looks to appoint the Belgian on a multi-year deal. Bayern, without a manager after Thomas Tuchel’s departure from the club, have missed out on a number of targetsincluding Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann.However,nowaccordingto reports in Germany, Bayern are set to appoint Kompanywhois currently themanager of English side Burnley.
According toreportsBayern held initial talks with Kompany as soon as the Premier League seasongot over. Kompanyis currently employedby Burnleywhosuffered relegation in his first season in charge in the Premier League. However, that has not stopped him from attracting interest from the six-time European champions. Despite relegation, he hasbeen admiredforthe job he didatBurnleywith whom he won the Championship (second division) title in the 2022-23 season.
After missing out on managers like Alonso and Nagelsmann, the Bavarian clubwas also unable tobring in former Manchester United boss Ralf Ragnick. The former Schalke boss refused to take the job despite advance talks and opted to continue with the Austria national team.

Kompany, onthe otherhand, will land a big job for the first time in his career, having enjoyed spells with Anderlecht and then Burnley.The former Manchester City captain plays an attacking style of footballwhichsaw Burnley earn promotion but also faced backlash in the Premier Leaguewhichledto his side’s relegation.
Bayern had a disappointing 2023-24 season, where they finished third in the Bundesliga andwere knockedout of the DFB Pokal in the early stage. The only silver lining on the poor season was the run in the Champions Leaguesemifinalwhere they lost to Real Madrid in a controversial end to the second leg.
Whilea late push was madeto keep Tuchel at the club despiteearlierannouncing his departure from the club, Bayern were unable to strike a deal.Itis now expectedthat Kompany could be announced as the new manager next weekwiththe club now targeting the transfer window to help bolster the squad.
