Shawn Mendes to drop new album soon

Shawn Mendes kept himself busy all this while with music if you too were wondering about his absence from public life. The singer has now announced the release of his upcoming album, Shawn which will drop on October 18.

Also, he will be dropping two new singles – “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough” on August 8. It happens to be his birthday.

Busy with these new offerings, Shawn revealed that he was recording this over the past two years and that “Isn’t That Enough” also comes with an album trailer.

Shawn Mendes reveals details about his new album

Shawn revealed on Instagram the process for his upcoming fifth studio album. He wrote, “Music really can be medicine. [Two] years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.”

He then thanked God and the people he loves for their support and added, “Honestly thank god for my friends and family. Life can be brutal but having a small group of people you deeply trust to walk you through makes it so much better. I have no idea how I would have made it through the last couple years let alone make an album without you.”

Shawn's first album in four years

Shawn’s new album is self-titled and wasrecorded at numerous locations like Nosara, Costa Rica; Clubhouse Studio in Rhinebeck, NY; Bear Creek Studio in Washington State; Darkhorse Recordings in Nashville; and Electric Lady in New York City.

He recorded the album with Scott Harris, Mike Sabath, Nate Mercereau, and Eddie Benjamin, and has contributions from Amy Allen and Ethan Gruska. It also features instrumentation from the Punch Brothers’ Chris Thile.

This is the first album from the singer in four years. His last work was Wonder, an album he released in December 2020. The record became his fourth consecutive chart-topper on the Billboard 200. He then went on a Wonder world tour that had to be cut short because of his mental health issues.
