Love, Sitara Interview: Rajeev Siddhartha on romancing Sobhita Dhulipala in film

Rajeev Siddhartha and Sobhita Dhulipala in Love, Sitara

Love, Sitara is currently streaming on ZEE5. A sweet story about a 29-year-old woman Sitara played by Sobhita Dhulipala who decides to get married to the love of her life because she gets pregnant but then decides against it when she finds out faults within her own family – offers a fresh take on modern-day relationships.

As the film delves into the complexities of modern relationships where no one assumes gender-defined roles but goes with the flow, actor Rajeev Siddhartha plays Sobhita’s love interest who helps find Sitara a balance in her life that she so craves for.

Rajeev spoke to WION about his film with Sobhita and tackling issues that couples face today. When asked how he thinks his character’s experiences reflect the challenges faced by couples today,Rajeev said that people “have forgotten how to be understanding, supportive, and non-judgmental towards their partners since dating and meeting people happens with just a click of a button.”

Rajeev said, “There is a superficiality in some relationships today, but I believe that eventually, people will realise how shallow these connections are and start forming more genuine relationships. My character, Arjun, is one of the few people in this generation who truly cares about forming meaningful, honest connections. He has an old-world charm, gentlemanly manners, and a depth that's rare in today's world."

On what he picked up from the set of his film, which interestingly features a lot of women, including director Vandana, Rajeev said, “The experience was extremely collaborative. When two actors in a scene give it their all, being as truthful as possible and working for the benefit of the scene, the film shines, because a film is a sequence of scenes. When those scenes shine, the whole film does too. It was a pleasure working with Sobhita because she has her heart in the right place for this film.”

He added, “Even the other actors, like Ikhlaque sir, who plays my father, were all on point – everyone knew we were working towards the same goal. I had such a great time that I wish the shoot could have gone on forever. We could have made sequels because I had such a fantastic experience. Full credit goes to RSVP and to our director, Vandana Kataria, because the captain of the ship sets the tone for the entire film, and she created a very creative, encouraging, and enriching environment."
