Pakistan: Lt General Asim Munir appointed new ISI Director General

Lieutenant General Asim Munir has been appointed the new Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), news agency ANI reported.
According to Pakistani media, Munir's elevation was long speculated after the news of DG ISI Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar's retirement started doing the rounds.
Munir's previous appointment was as DG Military Intelligence, Pakistan's Dawn reported. He has also served as commander of the Force Command Northern Areas.
General Munir's appointment cameafter Lt General Naveed Mukhtar, and four other three-star Generals, retired on October 1.
Accordingto reports, General Qamar Bajwa approved General Munir'spromotion last Monday.
