The Supreme Court of India has allowed a 13-year-old victim of rape to terminate her pregnancy of 31 weeks.

The ruling was passed by a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, and Justices AM Khanwilkar and Amitava Roy.

The court added the pregnancy should be terminated by September 8.
The court had earlier on July 28 rejected a petition filed by a 10-year-old victim of rape seeking permission to terminate her pregnancy of 32 weeks.
That petition had been rejected on medical grounds.
