PM Modi says crime against women unpardonable sin, guilty shouldn't be spared

Amidst continuing raging nationwide outrage over the brutal sexual assault and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday (August 25), said that crime against women isan "unpardonable sin".
Speaking at Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Along with increasing the strength of mothers, sisters, and daughters, their safety is also the priority of the country. I have raised this issue repeatedly from the Red Fort. Today, be it any state of the country, I understand the pain and anger of my sisters and daughters."
"I will once again tell every political party of the country, every state government that crime against women is an unpardonable sin. Whoever is guilty, he should not be spared," PM Modi said.
In his speech, PM Modi further asserted, that the accomplices of a rapist should also not be spared. He also addedthat, no matter the position, everybody should face accountability.

"Those who help him in any form should not be spared. Be it a hospital, school, government or police system, at whatever level negligence occurs, everyone should be held accountable. The message should go very clearly from top to bottom. This sin is unpardonable. Governments will keep coming and going, but protecting life and protecting women’s dignity is a big responsibility of all of us, both as a society and as a government," PM Modi said.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation conducted raids at several locations in Kolkata, including the residential premises of R G Kar College and Hospital's former principal, Sandip Ghosh, his relatives, and aides.
Kolkata Police has extended prohibitory orders near the hospital for an additional week, until August 31.
The main accused, Sanjay Roy, was sent to 14-day judicial custody yesterday after he was produced in Sealdah Court in Kolkata.
Besides, the Calcutta High Court also denied a request to block a planned protest march to the West Bengal state secretariat on August 27, by pointing out that the fundamental right to peaceful protest cannot be restricted.
