The state cabinet approved the bill last week.

According to a media report, the bill proposes death penalty or a minimum of 14 years of rigorous imprisonment or life imprisonment till death for raping minor girls aged 12 or less.

The bill also proposes punishment for disrobing, stalking or sex on the pretext of marriage.

The move was initiated after the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report revealed that Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest number of rape cases in the country.

State chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also said that repeated stalking will be a non-bailable offence and offenders will be punished.
