The seven Indian engineers who were abducted in Afghanistan on Sunday, at least four belonged to Jharkhand, report said.

The Indians belonged to Jhargram in Jharkhand's populous Giridih district. All the engineers worked for a private company named KEC.

They were abducted by unidentified gunmen on Sunday. Reports said Taliban could be behind the kidnappings but there has been no confirmation so far.

The Indian government continues to engage with the Afghanistan government over the abduction of seven engineers.

The engineers were travelling in a bus to the power plant when they were abducted by unknown gunmen in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan.

India's external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has been in touch with the Afghanistan foreign minister with very little information available on the ground.

Nearly a week after the incident, there is no news of the abducted Indians and no organizations has yet taken responsibility for the abduction.
