The murder of renowned politician Baba Siddique on Oct 12 has sent shockwaves around the country, with many stating the reason behind Siddique's attack was his close connections with actor Salman Khan.
For the unversed, Salman has been receiving several death threats allegedly from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Now, it has been said that the motive behind Siddique's killing was his connection with Khan. However, now Salman Khan's father and veteran lyricist Salim Khan has broken his silence on the same, refuting the reports claiming that Siddique's close association with Salman was the reason behindhis death.

In an interview with ABP News, Salim said that he doesn't thinkSalman and Siddique's friendship has anything to do with latter's death.
Speaking in Hindi (Translated to English), veteran lyricist said,''Nahi, mujhe nahi lagta hai ki isse koi taluk hai. Isse koi taluk nahi hai, mujhe nahi lagta. Baba Siddique ka isse kya taluk hoga? Kisi bhi cheez ka bana dijiye. Aapne humko salaam nahi kiya, ab hum aapko maar denge. Aapne humko namaste nahi kiya, hum maar denge (No, I don't think there is any connection. What connection will Baba Siddique have with this? We can make any story like this. You didn't greet me, I'll kill you)."

Further, when saidthat the NCP politician was killed because he was trying to save Salman from Bishnoi amidst all the death threats, Salim said, "Isme kya hai? Har koi bachana chahta hai...Zindagi jo hai kabhi bhi ja sakti hai, kisi ki bhi jasakti hai (So what? Everyone wants to save him...Anyone can lose their life anytime)."
Mumbai police is currently investigating the death and nothing has been confirmed on who was the person behind Siddique's murder. So far, four people have been arrested in connection.
New threats to Salman
Salim's statement comes after Salman got a new threat. On Thursday (Oct 17), a message was sent to a WhatsApp number of the Mumbai Traffic Police, in which the sender claimedto be close to Bishnoi's gang, and demanded Rs 5 crore from the actor.
In return for the money, the sender said that they would help in ending Salman's conflict with Bishnoi.
“Don't take it lightly, if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and wants to end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, then he will have to pay ₹5 crore. If the money is not given, Salman Khan's condition will be worse than Baba Siddique,” the sender said in a threat, reported ANI.
